Angelina Jolie attended the Palm Springs Film Festival over the weekend and told the reporters that she hopes her kids will see the world for the big melting pot that it is, and not just as the tiny blip of Hollywood.  Angelina also shared a bit about daughter Zaharas birthday (she turned 7 on Sunday, January 8th).

We make sure were very aware of her culture and her heritage.  Shes an African-American girl, so we make that a part of anything she does. So thatll be a part of her [birthday].

On hoping her kids are aware of what goes on in the world:

Im not one of those moms who kind of lectures [my kids].  But I do tell them, whenever I go on a trip, where Im going and why. And on some occasions, theyve come with me to different refugee camps. And they also go to their home countries a lot.  Hopefully they live in the world, and they see the world really as it is, outside of Hollywood.  If they really live in the world and spend time with friends around the world from all different types of backgrounds, they [will] just see things as they are.

I think Brad and Angelinas kids will have an understanding of the world in a way that other kids raised in one location for their whole lives will never know.  Not just because of their extensive travel and coming from other countries, but because of Angelinas position as a Goodwill Ambassador, and her work with other organizations, etc.
